I felt so lucky to be able to capture and celebrate my dear friends Steve and Katie’s wedding. It was my first time to Costa Rica, and I was totally blown away, what an AMAZING place. The day before the wedding we all went out on a sunset cruise, so fun! The wedding and reception took place at Costa Verde.
Usually the thought of seeing myself on video makes me cringe, about the same feeling I get when I hear myself on a voicemail recording. So, when my talented sister in law wanted to record a family session of the three of us I was a little hesitant, but as all of you parents know, when it comes to getting lens coverage of your kiddo, you can never have enough. Britt’s vision was to record something of “a day in the life” of our family. She hoped to capture all the nitty-gritty, funny, ritual, little things that you do as a family over a few hours and whittle it down to a five minute video as a glimpse into that time of your life. She filmed the whole thing with her tiny GoPro, which really has a unique look of it’s own. For most of the shoot we almost forgot she was filming, she just hung out with us, ate dinner, told jokes, played with Pearl and the Kitten. She did such a seamless job of nonchalantly documenting the real life evening of the Feyens. Weeks later when we received the final video we were completely speechless, what a gift it was to watch our family documented in such an artistic, honest and playful way. Obviously, I think family photos are such a treasure to have and look back on, to hang on your walls and share with family. But having this short video of our family at this time in our life is truly something we will cherish in a totally different way, and we’ll look forward to getting a family video shoot done annually now by Brittany. Britt is just starting out on her videogography journey and already booking sessions like crazy, but if you line her up now for a session, mention that you found her through my site and she will happily give you $50 off your shoot.
